KVK Anjaw Observes World Environment Day 2026 at Matiliang

        Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Anjaw observed World Environment Day 2026 at Matiliang with the theme “Inspired by Nature for Climate, for Our Future.” The programme witnessed the participation of 15 farmers, farm women and rural youth from the village.
        During the programme, Dr. Debasis Sasmal (Sr. scientist & Head) stated that nature provides effective solutions to many environmental challenges and encouraged farmers to integrate climate-resilient agricultural practices to safeguard productivity and environmental health. Er. Ugarsain Sangwan, SMS (Land & Water Management Engineering), highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and emphasized the recycling and reuse of plastic bottles to reduce plastic pollution and protect natural resources. He encouraged participants to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and contribute towards a cleaner environment.
        Th. Khoisnam Naveen, SMS (Agronomy) delivered a technical session on the recycling of agricultural waste for sustainable agriculture. He explained how crop residues and other farm wastes can be effectively converted into compost and organic manures, thereby improving soil health, reducing environmental pollution and promoting sustainable farming practices.
        The programme also highlighted the objectives of the nationwide “Khet Bachao Abhiyan”, which promotes soil health conservation, balanced use of fertilizers, natural resource management and climate-resilient agricultural practices. Participants were encouraged to adopt environmentally sustainable farming methods to safeguard agricultural land and ensure food security for future generations.
        Agriculture field assistant Shri Khogro Gam also addressed the gathering and emphasized the vital role of community participation in environmental conservation. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants shared their experiences and pledged to contribute towards environmental protection and sustainable agriculture in their communities.
